چکیده
Beam-beam deflection scan is a useful tool, both in the SLC and in future linear colliders, for extracting information about the beam position, .w size and luminosity. This technique poses nontrivial challenges to the instrumentation in its own right. The understanding of all aspects of beam-beam deflection, in particular that of disruption, is therefore crucial to a successful implementation of this technique. When disruption effects become strong mainly due to increased beam intensity per bunch, the simple rigidbunch formula for beambeam deflection is no longer valid. In this report we discuss the general modification to the rigid beam-beam deflection formula in the presence of disruption using various methods including analytical calculation, rigid and semi-rigid two-disk models, and simulation. The impact on the realistic beam-beam deflection in the SLC is also discussed. Submitted to Nuclear Instruments and Methods *Work supported by Department of Energy contract DE-AC03-76SF00515.

Response Determination of a Beam with Moderately Large Deflection Under Transverse Dynamic Load Using First Order Shear Deformation Theory
In the presented paper, the governing equations of a vibratory beam with moderately large deflection are derived using the first order shear deformation theory. The beam is homogenous, isotropic and it is subjected to the dynamic transverse and axial loads. The kinematic of the problem is according to the Von-Karman strain-displacement relations and the Hook's law is used as the constitutive eq...
متن کاملBeam-beam Deflection as a Beam Tuning Tool at the Slac Linear Collider
To achieve maximam integrated luminosity at the SLAC Linear Collider, a method of noninvasive beam tuning is required . Traditional luminosity monitors based on Bhabha scattering are inadequate because of low instantaneous counting rates. Coherent deflections of one beam by the electromagnetic field of the other are sensitive not only to the relative steering of the two bunches but also to thei...
متن کاملDistortion of crabbed bunch due to the electron cloud
In order to improve the luminosity, two crab cavities have been installed in KEKB HER and LER [1]. Since there is only one crab cavity in each ring, the crab cavity generates a horizontally titled bunch along the whole ring. The achieved specific luminosity with crabbed bunch is higher, but it is not as high as that from beam-beam simulation [2]. One of the suspicions is the electron cloud. The...
متن کاملConsidering Bending and Vibration of Homogeneous Nanobeam Coated by a FG Layer
In this research static deflection and free vibration of homogeneous nanobeams coated by a functionally graded (FG) layer is investigated according to the nonlocal elasticity theory. A higher order beam theory is used that does not need the shear correction factor. The equations of motion (equilibrium equations) are extracted by using Hamilton’s principle. The material properties are considered...
متن کاملComparison study between layered and functionally graded composite beams for static deflection and stress analyses
The aim of this paper is to compare the static deflections and stress results of layered and functionally graded composite beams under static load. In the comparison study, the results obtained for a cantilever beam under point load. The Timoshenko beam and the Euler-Bernoulli beam theories are used in the beam model. The energy based Ritz method is used for the solution of the problem and alge...
